Sandra Lauer, nasce il 18 maggio 1962 a Saarabrucken (Germania), diventa famosa in tutto il mondo nel 1985 con il single Maria Magdalena.
Firma il suo primo contratto a 16 anni entrando nella band femminile Arabesque.
Nel 1985 la band si divide e Sandra inizia a lavorare con il suo ragazzo Michael Cretu che poi sposer` nel 1988.
Nell’estate 1985 Sandra pubblica Maria Magdalena. Il disco diventa una hit senza precedenti. Raggiunge la posizione n. 1 delle classifiche di vendita in 21 Paesi e domina le prime 10 posizioni in altri 5.
Questo enorme successso viene riconfermato dal primo album The Long Play
(1985) e così Sandra continua con una lunga serie di album, tutti pubblicati anche in Italia. Tra i singoli di successo si ricordano oltre a Maria Magdalena, Innocent love, Little Girl, Everlasting Love, Heaven can wait.
